Superintendent Quality Assurance and Process Engineering

Manages quality systems and day-to-day activities of the Quality Assurance Department necessary to ensure production operations, quality assurance testing, and release product meet quality requirements. Oversees the metallurgical performance of the hardening process and develops systems / measurements / specifications to correct issues and optimize the performance / results.


  • Reviews product quality and gives final approval of inspection results for in-process and finish inspection to authorize product to advance in production/shipment
  • Prepares and analyzes the quality performance reports for trends and communicates the results in routine reporting including monthly reports, Quality Review Board meetings, monthly quality postings, etc
  • Works with the manufacturing departments identification of quality issues and preparation of corrective / preventative action determination and supervises completion of action items
  • Develops and monitors metallurgical performance metrics for the hardening department reviews the results and identifies opportunities to improve the consistency of the results performance
  • Examines failures or quality issues from the hardening process and develops corrective / preventative actions to correct
  • Reviews the hardening process specifications and adjust the process to correct for trends or to correct specific problems
  • Reviews the weekly hardening process schedule, identify items that are of elevated risk and adjust the process as necessary and monitor the results
  • Responsible for training, mentoring and discipline of department personnel both salary and hourly
  • Ensures adherence to/compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, performance standards, operating procedures, processes, and training requirements
  • Assists with the coordination of manufacturing activities to ensure the quality of products meets specifications within the designated time frame
  • Maintains policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)


  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Directly supervises 1, indirectly oversees the quality activities of 1 – 10 employees, monitors work quality, including conducting performance appraisals and providing counseling for improved performance


  • BS/BA Degree preferably in metallurgy or material science engineering
  • 4-6 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in heavy manufacturing
  • 4-6 years of experience in heat treatment process engineering


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize projects
  • Ability to function in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Independent judgement and decision making abilities
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office products to organize and communicate
  • Proven leadership and motivational abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
